Use | sodium ethanethiolate is useful as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate. |
preparation | under argon protection, to a 100ml reaction flask was added 40ml of freshly dried diethyl ether and 1.15g of sodium metal (50mmol). Under stirring, 4.07ml of ethanethiol (55mmol) was added dropwise to the reaction solution, and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours until the metallic sodium completely disappeared and a large amount of white turbidity was formed. Diethyl ether and a small excess of ethanethiol were then removed under reduced pressure to obtain a white powder, I .e., sodium ethanethiol (yield: 3.88g, yield: 92.4%). |
